Mote of Life collecting in Zangarmarsh.

Mote of Life Farming in Zangarmarsh - Levels 62+

The best zone to farm Motes of Life is by far from the mobs in Zangarmarsh (Wowhead | WowWiki) in the Outland. But did you know there is a semi-secret way for some players to farm way more?

Here you have Withered Giants, Fungal Giants and Starving Fungal Giants, among others. All of these have a slightly higher than 18% drop rate for motes of life, are not the hardest mobs to kill and can be farmed for extra herbs by herbalists.

Did you know there is a special device Engineers can use to farm Motes of Life, however?

The Zapthrottle Extractor allows you to collect Motes of Life from the random mote clouds in Zangarmarsh. To make an extractor you need an Engineering skill of 305 and the Schematic: Zapthrottle Mote Extractor plans which you receive as a quest reward as either Horde or Alliance.

I read some great tips like this in Derek%26#8217;s Gold Guide. This guide is a great read in itself - it has a comprehensive fishing guide, and the best profession guides I%26#8217;ve ever seen. Plus his general gold-making tips knocked my socks off - they%26#8217;re not what you would expect.

Tyr;s Hand - The Playground of Gold Farmers

Tyr%26#8217;s Hand

One of the best ways to find out where the best gold farming spots are is to find out where the professional gold farmers hang out. And for the past year and a half or so the ultimate hotspot for the pros has been the stronghold of the Scarlet Crusade in the Eastern Plaguelands: Tyr%26#8217;s Hand.

Full of level 56-60 elite Scarlet Crusaders, Tyr%26#8217;s hand is a treasure trove of consistently high silver and green drops. Blue and purple items have also been known to drop here. And while the mobs here don%26#8217;t go down as easy as non-elites, they can still be easily soloable by any class. Mages, warlocks, rogues and especially hunters seem to have the easiest time here, however.

The only real downside to farming Tyr%26#8217;s hand may be the competition for resources you get from other players. Some have even complained of being forcibly chased off by the %26#8220;regulars.%26#8221;

I originally heard about this tip back in the day from Derek%26#8217;s Warcraft Riches. Right now it%26#8217;s up to about five individual guides that cover both beginning and advanced concepts. One of it%26#8217;s strongest aspects is Derek%26#8217;s attention to presenting comprehensive information about professions.

Making WoW Gold with Burning Crusade Professions

Outrageous Amounts of Gold Per Hour! Levels 60+

There%26#8217;s no question that since the Burning Crusade release the volume of gold you can earn in the Outlands simply by grinding makes all the old gold farming techniques in Azeroth look like so much weak-sauce. But with the thousands and thousands of new gold pieces in circulation, you can still use some of those old techniques to earn MASSIVE amounts of gold.

You must have either two characters at level 60 or above or you must find a friend or guildmate who is willing to help you. One of them must be an enchanter at 325 or more skill. The other character must be a Blacksmith with at least 350 skill points. One of these characters must also be a Miner who is able to mine Fel Iron located all around the Outlands%26#8217; beginner area Hellfire Peninsula and/or Adamantite (about 325 skill), which is located mainly in the much harder-to-reach Nagrand.

The strategy is simple and has been in practice since Wow was in beta. Your Blacksmith will make his or her crafted items and your Enchanter will then disenchant them and sell the mats on the Auction House. The difference here is that these mats are worth TONS OF GOLD.

Your Blacksmith will want to focus only on crafting the high-level (62+) green items, the easier and cheaper to produce the better. To start out, I recommend Fel Iron Breastplates, Fel Iron Greatswords and Fel Iron Plate Gloves among others.

After disenchanting, your Enchanter will be rewarded with 2-5 Arcane Dust from each item and occasionally some Greater Planar Essences and Smaller Planar Essences. If you are very lucky you will get a Large Prismatic Shard.

These enchanting materials sell for outrageous amounts of WoW gold on the Auction House, it doesn%26#8217;t really matter whether or not you%26#8217;re on a realm with lots of people selling them - players%26#8217; appetites for these items are insatiable! And if you%26#8217;re on a new or low-population realm, they can go for even more.

To make the disenchanting process a lot easier and to help you focus on which items have the best chance of disenchanting into the high-value enchanting materials, I suggest you use Norganna%26#8217;s Auctioneer Addon. It comes with Enchantrix, which tracks disenchants and tells you BEFORE you disenchant an item what it will yield. Enchantrix is utterly invaluable for this WoW gold-making strategy.

By using this %26#8220;old%26#8221; techinique you can make more than 600 WoW gold in an hour. And when your Miner gets a flying epic mount (and therefore is able to mine the Adamantite) you can make more than 1000 WoW gold in an hour.

For more wickedly awesome tips try the The Ultimate Gold Guide. It has all kinds of useful information about how to make gold and level your character, it%26#8217;s a guide I%26#8217;ve been using for quite a while now - it gets updated regularly.

Reselling the Enchant Shield - Major Stamina Formula

Formula: Enchant Shield - Major Stamina

Pattern-reselling is one of the oldest tools in any WoW gold farmer%26#8217;s arsenal. The practice of finding limited-sell patterns and recipes from vendors around Azeroth and reselling them for sometimes outrageous profits has been going on virtually since beta.

Here%26#8217;s a new Burning Crusade enchanting recipe that is going for quite a bit of WoW gold at the auction houses on most realms: Formula: Enchant Shield - Major Stamina. You can buy it from Madame Ruby (63,70) in Shattrath City.

This pattern is sold by the vendor for four WoW gold, which is a fairly steep price, but reports are that it is being re-listed on the auction house successfully for as much as 60 gold on some realms. I think a solidly conservative estimate (taking into account population and competition) is closer to 10-20 gold, however. Even if you can sell it for six WoW gold it would be worth the relatively small effort to buy it and re-list it.

You can learn all kinds of awesome gold-making strategies like this in Valkor%26#8217;s Gold-Making Guide. It%26#8217;s where I found about stuff like this myself - in Valkor%26#8217;s complete limited-sell pattern database. This has saved me hours and increased my gold yield by hundreds.

Scryer Reputation or Gold? Is There Really Any Other Choice?

Grind Scryer Reputation for Gold at Level 67+

Blade's Edge Mountains

UPDATED: 5/7/2008

Scryer reputation tokens are still selling for a lot in most realms%26#8217; Auction Houses. According to WowEcon, Sunfury Signets (WowEcon | Wowhead) sell for about one gold a piece and Arcane Tomes (WowEcon | Wowhead) top out around 12-14 gold per item.

You can farm these tokens in the following areas:

Shadowmoon Valley (Wowhead | WowWiki) is a good source for these tokens. They drop from:

  • Eclipsion mobs - predominantly level 68-69.

  • Demon Hunter Initiates and Demon Hunter Supplicants - these mobs are level 70 and come in pairs.

Netherstorm (Wowhead | WowWiki) is also a good area to farm these tokens. There are a plethora of mobs to farm and this is the better zone if you are under level 70:

  • Sunfury mobs - ranging from levels 67-69.

All of these mobs have a drop rate for the Sunfury Signets at 25-30% and drops for Arcane Tomes at 1-2% in Netherstorm and 2-3% in Shadowmoon Valley. Because of this, if you are already level 70, you should only farm in Shadowmoon Valley for maximum reward.

I get a lot of tips from The Ultimate World of Warcraft Guide, it%26#8217;s full of tips to make you the richest gnome ever, because remember %26#8230; you are what you EAT!!1! ;)

Use Your Hearthstone to Get to All Your Faction's Cities

Free Teleports to Major Cities

Let%26#8217;s face it, if time is gold then travelling in World of Warcraft is one of the most expensive endeavors in the game. Having free, mage-like teleports to all of your faction%26#8217;s major cities could potentially cut your travel time significantly, especially if you are like me and tend to jump around Azeroth a lot.

In in the center of Shattrath City (Wowhead | WowWiki) at the Terrace of Light, there are free portals to every major city in WoW (only your own faction%26#8217;s portals are accessible to you). Have a level 70 mage teleport you there or have a level 70 warlock summon you, then make your way to the inn at either the Scryer%26#8217;s Tier or Aldor Rise and attune your hearthstone to it. The Aldor Rise is the closest to the Terrace of Light, located up the large elevator.

Voila - you now have a way to teleport to each of your faction%26#8217;s cities for free. That is, by hearthing to the inn and making the short run to your desired portal. You can also watch the level 70s shake their heads when they see a level 11 run past them in Shattrath, lol.

When you use this trick in conjunction with a guide like Derek%26#8217;s Warcraft Riches, you will find your gold earning shoot through the roof. Derek is so sure he can teach you how to earn up to 200 gold per hour he offers a money-back guarantee.
