Rogue strategy for soloing chests at Mana Tombs

Mana Tombs - the new Mechanar for Rogues?

The gold supply of WoW Rogues everywhere took a major hit with the release of Patch 2.2, as chests in the Mechanar (Wowhead | WowWiki) instance are no longer able to be solo-farmed. /cry

However, Tormentor from Area 52 recently pointed to a new video of his on YouTube that outlines a new chest-farming strategy, this time taking place in the Mana Tombs of Auchindoun (Wowhead | WowWiki).

This technique appears to be a lot less complicated than Mechanar, and you will be wearing your full equipment and fighting mobs. Tormentor shows that it can be done at level 70 with only average equipment and a 20/41/0 combat build. By all accounts, this should be possible to solo as early as level 66 or 67.

Tormentor claims to have made 100 gold from the run in the video above. Given that you can also mine in this instance and he has video proof he found at least one epic gem, I believe him. Time will tell on the consistency of the gold made using this strategy, but I think it will play out in rogues%26#8217; favor.

So will this get nerfed by Blizzard? Personally I do not think so; this is a straightforward solo-instance technique much like running Scarlet Monastery at level 60. Though there is a danger they will nerf the chest drops. What do you think?

So how do you turn all those epic gems you farm into pure WoW gold? I read Derek%26#8217;s Warcraft Riches Guide. It is aggressively updated, and contains some of the best profession leveling guides I%26#8217;ve seen. It will show you the easiest and cheapest way to quickly get your jewelcrafting to level 375 so you can cut those gems yourself!
